A Massachusetts man has been accused of savagely murdering his 82-year-old mother by repeatedly slamming her head into the ground, stabbing her with a butter knife and running her over with her own truck, later allegedly telling police that he “just felt like killing her.”

Daniel Uhlman, 53, of Westborough, allegedly lured his mother, Nancy Uhlman, to the Holiday Inn hotel on Lakeside Avenue in Marlboro, where he had been living for a month, knowing that he was going to kill her Thursday.

Prosecutors said Uhlman invited Nancy to the hotel and instructed her to park her pickup truck in the back so they could “smoke cigarettes.”

Around 12:30 p.m., the man allegedly yanked his octogenarian mother out of the truck and proceeded to slam her face and head against the pavement approximately 20 times.

Uhlman then produced a butter knife from his pocket and tried to stab his mother with it, according to officials.

Nancy Uhlman was able to fight back and grab hold of the knife. That is when, police said, her son went back to her truck and got behind the wheel.

“He said that he drove the truck at his mother running her over, which he stated was to ensure she was, in fact, dead,” said Assistant District Attorney Meghan McGovern.

Following the grisly attack, Uhlman allegedly walked into the hotel lobby “with blood on his hands,” informed the staff that he had just killed his mother and asked them to call the police.

Officers arrived in the hotel parking to find Nancy Uhlman “laying on the ground with significant trauma,” reported the Community Advocate. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

When detectives asked Uhlman during questioning what led him to attack his elderly mom, he allegedly replied, “I just felt like killing her,” according to the criminal complaint obtained by NBC Boston.

Uhlman was charged with armed assault to murder of a person over 60, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, and battery with a dangerous weapon on a person over 60, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan said in a statement.

During his arraignment in Marlborough District Court on Friday, Uhlman pleaded not guilty to the charges and was ordered to undergo a mental competency evaluation at Bridgewater State Hospital.

Hilary Novak, a forensic psychologist, told the court that the defendant has bipolar disorder, and has experienced hallucinations ordering him to harm himself and others.

Authorities said it was not the first time Uhlman had attacked his mother. In 2014, when she was 72, he used four steak knives to repeatedly stab Nancy Uhlman in the head and torso in the home they shared, police said.

The victim called 911 for help and was found in a bathroom “bleeding profusely,” according to authorities. She was taken to the hospital and survived. Her son was later caught walking down the street, drenched in blood.

Daniel spent close to a year in jail before being released in May 2015.

Following Friday’s arraignment hearing, Uhlman’s attorney told reporters that his client is in need of mental health treatment and had been off his anti-psychotic medication for nearly a month.
