A dispute over a dog relieving itself outside a Queens home quickly escalated into violence Thursday morning, leaving three people injured, according to police and sources.
Authorities say 34-year-old Hakeem Alexander became enraged after noticing a French bulldog urinating on a strip of grass near the curb in front of his residence in Laurelton. Around 11 a.m., surveillance video captured a 39-year-old woman and her boyfriend standing outside a home on 229th Street near 141st Avenue with their dog when the situation turned confrontational.

Two men, including Alexander, rushed toward the couple after the dog urinated. In a bizarre moment caught on camera, Alexander appeared to urinate on the same lawn himself. The confrontation intensified when the woman struck him from behind, prompting him to lash out physically.
Police say Alexander began punching the couple before pulling out a knife. The woman suffered a cut to her left hand, while her boyfriend was stabbed in the back.
The violence spread further when Alexander’s 62-year-old father attempted to intervene and was also slashed in the left hand. All three victims were transported to Jamaica University Hospital Medical Center and were reported to be in stable condition.

Alexander was taken into custody and is facing three counts of assault.
The incident follows a similar altercation in Crown Heights just weeks earlier, where a 75-year-old grandmother, Linda Scott, was attacked after asking two women to clean up after their dogs. The assault in that case only stopped when a Navy veteran neighbor stepped in.
