Multiple officers respond to 30-person disturbance at Kansas City Walmart

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Walmart in Kansas City was surrounded by several law enforcement agencies Saturday night after a large disturbance involving dozens of people broke out at the store.

According to the Kansas City Police Department (KCPD), officers were called to a “large-scale disturbance” at the Walmart Supercenter near East U.S. Highway 40 and Sterling Avenue. Police said approximately 30 people were involved in the incident.

Due to the size of the crowd, officers requested assistance from multiple nearby law enforcement agencies. By the time additional units arrived, the group had already dispersed, police said.

Authorities reported that no injuries have been confirmed, but an assault investigation is currently underway.

Police said officers from multiple departments responded to the store, located near Interstate 70 and Sterling Avenue, after reports of a large fight. When officers arrived, they found a group of around 30 people involved in the altercation and worked to break up the disturbance.

Footage shared on social media showed a large police presence outside the store, with officers attempting to regain control of the situation in the parking lot near the entrance.

Incidents like this have raised concerns among businesses and community members about safety at retail locations. Large disturbances can interrupt normal store operations and create potential risks for customers and employees while requiring a significant law enforcement response.
