Authorities in Jeannette, Pennsylvania say a restaurant employee is now wanted on multiple assault-related charges after allegedly attacking coworkers just moments after starting his shift.
Police are searching for 35-year-old McKinley Maurice Pace Jr., who faces charges including aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, and harassment involving physical contact. A warrant for his arrest was issued Tuesday by the Jeannette Police Department.
The incident reportedly took place on March 27 at DeNunzio’s Restaurant in Jeannette, a community just east of Pittsburgh. According to court documents cited by local media, Pace had only been on the job for about a minute when he began complaining that he was being expected to do work he believed belonged to other staff members.
Witnesses say the situation escalated quickly. Pace allegedly shouted that he had “had enough” and said he was going to punch a specific coworker. When the coworker responded that there was no need for confrontation, police say Pace went ahead and struck him in the face multiple times.
Authorities also allege that after the initial assault, Pace approached the coworker’s wife and hit her as well.
At the time, the restaurant’s general manager reported that Pace had barely begun his shift before the violence broke out.
Police responded to a call about a disturbance at the restaurant, but the suspect had already left the scene before officers arrived. Investigators are now asking the public for help in locating him.
DeNunzio’s Restaurant operates multiple locations in the Pittsburgh area and describes its Jeannette location as a welcoming Italian restaurant known for friendly service and a warm atmosphere.
