WATCH: Chick fil-A fires 8 workers overnight over viral TikTok dance that racked up 7M views

Eight employees at a Chick-fil-A location say they lost their jobs after a TikTok video they filmed at work went viral, drawing millions of views and the attention of company management.

In the video, the workers — all wearing their Chick-fil-A uniforms — took turns dancing and shaking their chests to a mashup of the songs “Wanna Mingle” and “Top of the Cars.” One of the staff members, a male employee, also turned around and briefly twerked during the clip. The video was posted under the caption “my CFA crew better than yours” and quickly spread online, eventually reaching nearly 7.5 million views.

According to Landin, the Florida employee who recorded and uploaded the video, the popularity of the clip ultimately led to consequences from their employer. He said that all eight people who appeared in the video were dismissed from their jobs.

Landin said the group was informed of their termination on a Sunday. He pointed out the timing as ironic because Chick-fil-A restaurants are closed every Sunday so employees can rest and attend church if they choose.

He also argued that the situation did not warrant such a severe response. Landin said he was surprised by the decision because he had previously posted videos that gained large audiences online without issue.

Reaction to the firings has been mixed among viewers who saw the viral clip. Some commenters expressed shock that every employee involved was let go, while others joked about the situation.

Not everyone defended the workers, however. Some people online said the employees should have expected discipline for posting the video while wearing company uniforms and appearing to represent the restaurant.

Chick-fil-A has not issued a public response to requests for comment about the situation.
