Easter egg hunt horror as kids make ghoulish discovery
Authorities in Long Beach have opened an investigation after potential human remains were uncovered during an Easter egg hunt on Sunday.
The discovery occurred around 5 p.m. at DeForest Park, located on the 5900 block of De Forest Avenue, when a family searching for Easter eggs stumbled upon what appeared to be a small skull buried in the ground.
The Long Beach Police Department has not disclosed the identity of the individuals who found the remains. Aerial video obtained by Fox11 shows what looks like a skull emerging from the soil, with law enforcement personnel working nearby to secure the area.

Family members reported that the skull may belong to a child and noted that additional small bones were found in the vicinity.
Witness Marc Zaldana told KCBS, “At first, we saw the family doing an Easter egg hunt, but they started panicking. I can’t imagine what it must feel like to find the remains of another child. It’s tragic.”
Police confirmed that the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office is responding to the scene due to the circumstances. Authorities said they would wait for the examiner’s results before providing further updates.
Local resident Jessica Flores shared her concern with KTLA, stating, “If it’s a child, that’s incredibly sad. It really hurts.”
