‘Rubio finding out…’ breaks the Internet thanks to Noem’s fetish-prone hubby scandal

A familiar internet joke has resurfaced — and it’s spreading quickly again across social media.

After a new controversy connected to the husband of former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, online users immediately revived the long-running “Marco Rubio finding out” meme, turning Secretary of State Marco Rubio into the centerpiece of the latest wave of jokes.

Within minutes of the story breaking, social media users began posting variations of the meme, imagining Rubio being handed yet another unexpected responsibility. One widely shared post on X joked that Rubio had just discovered he now had to be “Kristi Noem’s husband too,” placing the caption over a well-known photo of Rubio sitting on a couch in the Oval Office looking visibly uncomfortable.

The image itself comes from a tense 2025 meeting between President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Since then, the photo has been widely used online as a reaction image meant to capture the feeling of disbelief or frustration.

The internet quickly took the joke even further.

Users began circulating edited photos and humorous video clips that placed Rubio into absurd scenarios tied to allegations surrounding Noem’s husband, Bryon Noem. Reports had claimed he was involved in an unusual online fetish community involving exaggerated female disguises. Meme creators ran with the story, producing over-the-top edits and videos showing Rubio in comedic situations such as struggling through high heels, shopping for oversized bras, or reluctantly undergoing leg waxing like a reality show participant.

Despite the flood of posts, Rubio himself was not involved in the situation. That irony is exactly what fuels the meme.

In recent years, the Florida Republican has taken on numerous responsibilities in President Trump’s administration, earning a reputation among online commentators as a kind of political “utility player.” Because he appears in so many roles, social media users frequently joke that whenever a new job — serious or ridiculous — needs filling, Rubio will be the one assigned to it.

The meme has imagined Rubio taking on a wide range of duties, including his real position as Secretary of State, various national security responsibilities, and completely fictional assignments such as becoming governor of Minnesota or even managing the Miami Dolphins.

The joke has grown so widespread that earlier this year the White House joined in on the humor. On Valentine’s Day, the administration posted a version of the meme with the caption: “Don’t make me work for your love.”

While the internet continues to poke fun at Rubio’s seemingly endless list of responsibilities, the underlying message is clear: in Washington, being the person trusted with many roles can also be a sign of influence.

And if the latest round of memes is any indication, online users are already imagining what job Rubio might be “given” next.
