President Donald J. Trump issued a series of messages addressing the ongoing fuel shortages affecting parts of Europe and the United Kingdom, while also commenting on relations with France and announcing an upcoming state visit from British royalty.

In a statement about the fuel situation tied to tensions around the Strait of Hormuz, President Trump told European nations struggling to obtain jet fuel that the United States has ample supplies available for purchase. He suggested that countries facing shortages should consider buying American fuel or taking steps to secure access to energy resources themselves. President Trump also argued that the United States should no longer be expected to intervene on behalf of countries that did not support U.S. actions against Iran. He added that Iran’s capabilities have been largely weakened and that European nations may need to take greater responsibility for their own security and energy needs.

President Trump also directed criticism toward France, stating that the French government did not allow aircraft carrying military supplies to Israel to fly over French territory. He described the decision as unhelpful in light of recent developments involving what he referred to as the successful elimination of the “Butcher of Iran.” President Trump said the United States would remember France’s position on the matter.

In a separate announcement regarding relations with the United Kingdom, President Trump said that he and First Lady Melania Trump are looking forward to hosting King Charles III and Queen Camilla for a historic state visit to the United States from April 27 to April 30. The visit will include a formal state banquet at the White House on April 28. President Trump noted that the occasion will coincide with celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of the United States and said he looks forward to spending time with the King, whom he described as someone he greatly respects.
