Cop shoots and kills pit bull mauling woman in Queens
An NYPD officer fatally shot a pit bull that attacked a woman in Queens on Monday evening, police said.
Authorities were called to 414 Beach 58th Street in Far Rockaway at approximately 8:45 p.m. for a report of a dangerous animal. Upon arrival, officers discovered the dog actively attacking a 28-year-old woman.

One officer discharged his firearm, striking the dog, which later died from its injuries. Police confirmed that no bystanders or officers were hit by gunfire.
The woman was treated for bite wounds to her arm and transported to a nearby hospital in stable condition. Several officers also received minor injuries, though police indicated these were not inflicted by the dog.

The owner of the pit bull has not yet been identified, and no arrests have been made. Officials said the investigation into the attack is ongoing.
