LI 4-year-old rescued after creep allegedly kidnapped her from under mom’s nose at laundromat
A 4-year-old girl from Long Island was found safe after police say she was taken from a laundromat in Patchogue on Saturday.
According to Suffolk County police, 38-year-old Carlos Corte allegedly led the child out of the back of Laundry Kingdom while her mother was inside the business. The girl’s mother reported her missing shortly after noon, prompting officers to respond to the scene and review surveillance footage.

While officers were canvassing the area, the child’s mother located her in the children’s play area at the Patchogue-Medford Library, located a few doors away from the laundromat.
Corte, who lives in Patchogue, was arrested and charged with second-degree kidnapping and endangering the welfare of a child. Police also said he had an outstanding arrest warrant at the time of his arrest.
He was held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned Sunday at First District Court in Central Islip.
