Divorced son’s new girlfriend is a really bad apple. ‘I don’t want her in my house’
DEAR ABBY:
Seven months ago, my son filed for divorce from his wife of 22 years. Three months ago, he introduced us to a woman named Carlene.
Abby, she has five children by three different men and is currently married to her second husband (she filed for divorce two months ago). She has custody of only two of her children. Since Carlene became involved with my son, he has returned to drinking and using drugs, and he was recently fired from a job he had held for 17 years.
I have no desire to welcome Carlene into my home or my heart. How can I let my son know that I see her as a negative influence, without damaging our relationship, and that I don’t want any involvement with her or her disrespectful children?
