Couple forced 14-year-old into surrogacy, made her carry twins because man’s girlfriend had tubes tied

Authorities say an Oklahoma man and his girlfriend were arrested in Nevada after investigators accused them of exploiting a 14-year-old girl in a disturbing surrogate arrangement that resulted in her becoming pregnant with twins.
Nathan Potier, 36, is facing one felony charge of sexual assault of a child. His girlfriend, Erica Palmer, also 36, has been charged with enabling sexual abuse of a child. Both were taken into custody earlier this week in Sparks, Nevada.
The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office said the arrests were carried out Tuesday by the United States Marshals Nevada Violent Offender Task Force. The operation followed work by the Regional Sex Offender Notification Unit, a multi-agency group that monitors and investigates sex offenders.
Investigators received information indicating the two suspects were hiding in the Reno-Sparks area. After following several leads, authorities confirmed their location and arrested them. Potier and Palmer were then booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility and are expected to be extradited back to Oklahoma County to face the charges.
Officials said the case highlights continued efforts by multiple law enforcement agencies to track down fugitives and bring them to justice.
Court records obtained by Oklahoma City television station KFOR outline the allegations that led to the investigation.
According to authorities, the case began in December 2025 when Oklahoma Child Protective Services received a report that a 14-year-old girl was pregnant with twins. Investigators later determined the pregnancy was allegedly connected to abuse involving Potier and Palmer, with Potier believed to be the father.
During an interview with police before the arrest warrants were issued, Palmer allegedly told investigators she wanted children with Potier but could not conceive because she had previously undergone a tubal ligation, commonly known as having her tubes tied.
Authorities believe the couple specifically targeted the teenage girl.
Investigators obtained a search warrant and planned to collect Potier’s DNA during a scheduled medical appointment to determine whether he was the father of the twins. Before that could happen, however, the pair fled Oklahoma.
Court documents also mention earlier reports from California alleging Potier had sexually abused the same teenager and that Palmer knew about those accusations.
The girl has since been placed in foster care, according to KFOR.
As of Friday afternoon, both suspects remained in custody at the Washoe County Detention Facility. Palmer’s bond was set at $200,000, while Potier’s bond was set at $300,000. Both are awaiting extradition to Oklahoma.
