DHS Celebrates Ten Straight Months of Zero Illegal Aliens Released at the Border

During his 2025 State of the Union address, President Trump highlighted a simple truth: securing the southern border didn’t require new legislation—it required new leadership. Recent results confirm his point.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) have reported ten consecutive months without releasing any illegal immigrants into the United States, a milestone that reflects historically low border crossings. February also saw CBP achieve its highest single-month drug seizure total since October 2021.
“Ten straight months with zero illegal aliens released at the border. President Trump pledged to secure our borders, and that pledge has been fulfilled,” said Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem. “We now have the most secure border in American history, keeping lawbreakers out.”
CBP Commissioner Rodney Scott added, “February marks the tenth consecutive month that the U.S. Border Patrol has not released a single illegal alien into the interior. This shows the effectiveness of our enforcement-focused approach, which restores integrity to the nation’s borders. While threats continue to evolve, so does our commitment to protecting the homeland while enabling lawful travel and trade.”
The sustained drop in illegal crossings and apprehensions underscores the success of these enforcement policies. Daily apprehensions are down 95% compared to the previous administration, and the border has seen 13 straight months with fewer than 9,000 southwest border apprehensions—a level of security not seen in over 30 years.
Despite these results, some Democrats continue to make extreme claims, such as likening historical figures like Thomas Paine to undocumented immigrants, a comparison that many see as baseless and disconnected from reality.
