White House registers ‘Aliens.gov’ domain name, sparking hope of Trump news on UFOs

Government records show that federal officials have secured a new website domain, although the site itself is not active and its intended use has not been publicly explained.
The discovery surfaced Wednesday after an automated system that tracks newly registered federal websites detected the domain. The timing comes almost exactly one month after President Trump announced he would direct senior officials in his administration to locate and release government records connected to UFOs and extraterrestrial life.
In a Truth Social post last month, Trump said the move was driven by strong public interest in the topic. He stated that he would instruct the Secretary of War and other relevant agencies to begin identifying and preparing government files related to alien and extraterrestrial life, unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), and unidentified flying objects (UFOs), along with any other information tied to the subject.
The announcement reportedly prompted activity inside federal agencies, including the Pentagon and the White House, as officials began evaluating what materials might fall under the order. However, no timeline has been provided for when any information could be released, and it remains unclear whether classified material will ultimately be made public.
War Secretary Pete Hegseth addressed the issue in a statement issued a few days after the announcement. While emphasizing that his department intends to follow the president’s directive, he avoided making firm promises about how quickly the process could move.
Hegseth said personnel were already reviewing the matter but cautioned against expecting immediate results. According to him, the department intends to fully comply with the executive order and provide its findings to the president once the review process is complete.
When asked whether he personally believes extraterrestrial beings exist, Hegseth declined to speculate, saying he would learn the answer through the same review process that is now underway.
For years, the Pentagon has maintained that it has never confirmed definitive evidence of extraterrestrial life or unidentified aerial phenomena linked to nonhuman sources. Still, some former officials say the government may possess significant material related to unidentified objects.

Christopher Mellon, who previously served as deputy assistant secretary of defense for intelligence during the Clinton and Bush administrations, said in an interview last week that the government holds a large collection of photographs and videos related to unidentified craft. He suggested that releasing some of that material could dramatically change public discussions about UFOs.
Mellon said satellite images exist that appear to show aircraft unlike any known human-made technology. He also stated that there are numerous videos recorded by military systems, including gun cameras on F-18 fighter jets and Forward Looking Infrared (FLIR) sensors, that were previously considered unclassified but have not been released to the public.
According to Mellon, he has personally seen some of these recordings and believes there is no clear reason they remain withheld.

Former President Barack Obama also weighed in on the broader question of extraterrestrial life during a recent interview with podcast host Brian Tyler Cohen. Obama said the possibility of life elsewhere in the universe is real but acknowledged that he never personally encountered evidence of aliens during his time in office.
He initially joked that extraterrestrials were not secretly housed at Area 51 and suggested that if such a program existed it would require a massive conspiracy that even a sitting president might not know about.
After his remarks sparked widespread online speculation, Obama later clarified his comments in a social media post. He said that while the vast size of the universe makes the existence of life elsewhere statistically likely, the enormous distances between star systems make it unlikely that aliens have visited Earth. Obama added that during his presidency he saw no evidence that extraterrestrial beings had made contact with humanity.
