Conan O’Brien took a playful shot at Kid Rock during his Oscars hosting gig, and the musician didn’t hold back in responding. On X, Kid Rock wrote, “I love a good joke, even when I am the butt of it. Unfortunately, this was not a very good one.”

At the Oscars, O’Brien had told viewers that the show could get political, adding, “and if that makes you uncomfortable, there’s an alternate Oscars being hosted by Kid Rock. It’s at the Dave & Buster’s down the street.”

The quip referenced the All-American Halftime Show organized by Turning Point USA, with Kid Rock as the headliner, promoted as a conservative alternative to the Super Bowl halftime show featuring Bad Bunny. The Bad Bunny performance drew record-breaking audiences, with nearly 130 million viewers tuning in across the U.S., according to USA Today.

Kid Rock also used the moment to promote his Freedom 250 tour, which will take place this spring and summer in celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States.
