Armed Muslim Man Wearing Military Gear Arrested After Walking Into Texas Elementary School
Authorities arrested a 39-year-old man in Spring, Texas, after he entered an elementary school while wearing tactical gear and carrying a firearm.
The suspect, identified as Kyle Najm Chris, also known as Muhi Mohanad Najm, walked into Zwink Elementary School on Tuesday when another visitor failed to properly close the first set of doors.
Although he made it past the initial entrance, the school’s double-door security system prevented him from reaching classrooms or students.
Parents were informed about the incident by Klein Independent School District on Wednesday evening. Officials said the district was coordinating with the FBI prior to the suspect’s arrest at his home, roughly four miles from the school.
When questioned by police, Najm Chris claimed he was a security guard, but authorities confirmed he is unemployed and does not hold any official certifications or licenses for law enforcement.
He is currently being held on a $75,000 bond. Court records indicate that he faces a third-degree felony charge for possession of a prohibited weapon on school grounds.
According to documents, Chris entered the school’s front office around 1:30 p.m. after slipping through the front doors left unsecured. Witnesses described him wearing full green military-style or tactical clothing, including a load-bearing vest, a taser, and a holstered firearm. When asked by a staff member how he gained access and whether he was part of campus security, he said the door was not latched. He did not provide identification or any agency affiliation. After leaving the building, he got into a dark blue Dodge Charger and drove away.
Authorities apprehended him around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, following a multi-agency investigation.
