Less than a week ago, news surfaced that an Israeli drone attack had hit a Basij checkpoint. The Basij militia is commonly used by Iran’s government to enforce internal security and to control protests.

Israeli officials have already acknowledged carrying out strikes on Basij facilities and internal security command centers throughout Tehran during the current military campaign. Online reports also claim that Iranians who oppose the government have been passing the locations of checkpoints to Israeli intelligence as events unfold, allowing for rapid targeting of those security positions.
