A former Texas schoolteacher who became widely known after her booking photo circulated online in 2017 remains married to her husband, according to a recent report.
Sarah Fowlkes, now 35, and her husband Hayden are still together years after the scandal that ended her teaching career. Their marriage appears to have continued despite the legal case involving a student and a separate allegation that she had a relationship with a colleague many years earlier, the Daily Mail reported Tuesday.
Fowlkes faced criminal charges nearly a decade ago after authorities accused her of engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old student. She later pleaded guilty in the case. According to previous reporting, she served 10 days in jail and was placed on probation for four years.
Police documents recently reviewed by the outlet also included claims that Fowlkes had spoken openly about being unfaithful during her marriage. A colleague who knew her reportedly told investigators that she did not hide the fact that she had been involved with other men.
The same records state that Fowlkes and the student used nicknames for each other while communicating. Investigators also said the two exchanged numerous messages through Snapchat, and that she sent explicit photos of herself to the student.
Fowlkes is no longer working in education. Reports say she later moved into a career in marketing and has received recognition for her work in that field.
Attempts to contact Fowlkes and her husband for comment were unsuccessful.
