A woman in Iowa is facing several felony charges after authorities say she delivered a pan of lasagna that had been mixed with a controlled drug to a household that included a pregnant woman, allegedly hoping the woman would lose her pregnancy.
Amber Dena Snow, 36, was arrested this week. Court records show she has been charged with two counts of administering a harmful substance to an adult and two counts of administering a harmful substance to a juvenile. She also faces charges of attempted nonconsensual termination of a pregnancy and violating controlled substance laws.
The Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office said deputies first became aware of the situation in early January after receiving a report about a family-size tray of lasagna that was suspected to contain a drug. Investigators from the sheriff’s office, working with the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, the Decorah Police Department, and the Winneshiek County Attorney’s Office, began examining the allegation.
During what authorities described as a lengthy investigation, multiple search warrants were carried out. Officials said the investigation determined that Snow and another woman worked together to place a controlled substance in the lasagna before it was delivered to another family on December 28, 2025.
Both women were later taken in for questioning. According to investigators, messages and internet search records found on the suspects’ devices showed activity from before and after the lasagna was prepared and delivered. Authorities concluded the plan was to cause a miscarriage for the pregnant woman in the household that received the food.
The pregnant woman was unaware the lasagna had allegedly been tampered with and did not agree to consume any controlled substance, investigators said.
The food was sent to the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation’s crime laboratory for analysis. Testing confirmed that oxycodone was present in the lasagna.
The Des Moines Register reported that Snow shares custody of a child with a person connected to the pregnant woman’s family. The child reportedly knew about the alleged plan to deliver the drug-laced food and opposed the idea.
Following the investigation, Snow was arrested Tuesday and booked into the Winneshiek County Jail. Jail records show she is being held on a cash-only bond set at $100,000.
Along with the felony counts, prosecutors also charged Snow with child endangerment, accusing her of knowingly acting in a way that created a serious risk to a child’s physical, mental, or emotional well-being. That charge is classified as an aggravated misdemeanor.
Snow is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on March 23.
