M offered as FBI hunts 300-pound fugitive

Federal agents are searching for a large murder suspect on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted list and are now offering $1 million for information that could lead to his capture.

Omar Alexander Cardenas, a California native also known as “Dollar,” is accused of killing a man outside a Los Angeles barber shop in 2019 before disappearing and remaining at large for years. Authorities say the shooting took place outside Hair Icon Barber Shop in Sylmar, where Cardenas allegedly fired about six shots from a semi-automatic handgun. The victim, 46-year-old Jabari Dumas, was struck in the head and died from his injuries.

Investigators have indicated that Dumas may not have known Cardenas.

A Los Angeles County arrest warrant charging Cardenas with murder was issued in April 2020. A federal warrant followed in September 2021, accusing him of unlawful flight to avoid prosecution. Cardenas is described as roughly 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing between 240 and 300 pounds. Officials say he often has a beard, wears prescription glasses, and has at least one tattoo.

The FBI later added Cardenas to its Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list and is offering a reward of up to $1 million for information leading to his arrest. Investigators believe he may be receiving assistance while on the run.
