President Donald Trump’s latest loyalty token isn’t a red hat—it’s a pair of $145 dress shoes. According to the The Wall Street Journal, President Trump has become fixated on Florsheim footwear, handing out leather oxfords, wingtips, and loafers to Cabinet secretaries, advisers, and television allies, reportedly paying for them himself.

Recipients say the president often guesses their shoe size on the spot, has an aide place the order, and later follows up by asking, “Did you get the shoes?” Some deliveries even arrive with Trump’s signature or a short note. The growing list of Florsheim recipients includes Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, several Cabinet officials, and Sean Hannity of Fox News.

Inside the administration, staffers joke that “all the boys have them,” and some reportedly feel pressure to wear the shoes when around the president—even if it means setting aside more expensive brands. President Trump, who prefers black dress shoes and dislikes brown shoes with dark suits, has also been known to critique footwear in the Oval Office. On one occasion, he told Rubio and Vance they had “bad shoes” before ordering replacements from the 132-year-old brand, once worn by Harry S. Truman and Michael Jackson.

A spokesperson for Florsheim’s parent company, Weyco Group, said the company’s CEO was unaware of the president’s apparent support and declined to comment. Meanwhile, Business Insider reported that Weyco has filed a lawsuit against the administration over tariffs.
