Wayman was laid to rest with full military honors at the Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery.

FOX News reported:

Community members and fellow veterans gathered Tuesday morning at the Nashville cemetery to lay Lonnie D. Wayman, a U.S. Navy veteran with no known family, to rest with full military honors.

Although Wayman was officially listed as an “unclaimed” veteran, the large turnout showed that “unclaimed” does not mean forgotten. Organizers invited members of the public and veterans groups to attend the 9 a.m. service, ensuring that Wayman received the dignity he earned.

A representative from the Veterans Affairs (VA) office said the term “unclaimed” didn’t fit the moment.

“When the paperwork for Lonnie Wayman came across my desk, it was marked as an unclaimed veteran,” the representative said. “But I say that’s incorrect. Thanks to the support from the United States military, the team at Gupton Mortuary, and everyone here today, we are able to honor our veterans and provide them the respect they have earned.”

Rows of veterans, military personnel, and community members stood in tribute as prayers were offered and honors rendered in recognition of Wayman’s Navy service. The gathering reflected Americans coming together to support those who served the nation.

God bless our troops, and God bless America.
