US heavyweight Jarrell Miller won his bout at Madison Square Garden but had to suffer the embarrassment of his toupee being dislodged mid-fight.

American boxer Jarrell Miller narrowly claimed victory in his heavyweight bout in New York on Saturday—but lost more than just the fight when his toupee came loose.

During the clash at Madison Square Garden against Kingsley Ibeh, the 37-year-old’s hairpiece shifted after taking a flurry of punches. Realizing it had come off at the end of a round, Miller grinned and tossed it into the crowd.

Even without his wig, Miller stayed focused and secured the win by split decision.

In a bizarre twist, Miller revealed that his hair had actually burned off after using bleach shampoo, forcing him to get an emergency toupee just before the fight. In his post-fight interview, he said:

“I get to my mama’s house and she has some shampoo bottles on the table. I shampooed, it was like ammonium bleach. I literally lost my hair like two days ago. So I called my manager, ‘get me one of those manes,’ and I slapped that on real quick… I’m a comedian, I make fun of myself.”

The bout took place on the undercard of the WBO super-lightweight title fight between Teofimo Lopez and Shakur Stevenson, which Stevenson won by unanimous decision.

Miller has had a turbulent history with British promoter Eddie Hearn. Back in 2019, he was scheduled to face Anthony Joshua at the same New York venue. That bout was canceled after Miller failed a drug test, paving the way for Andy Ruiz Jr to step in and pull off one of boxing’s most shocking upsets against Joshua.
