A video shared Saturday by Iranian-born activist Sana Ebrahimi quickly gained widespread attention online, drawing more than three million views within hours of being posted.
In the clip, Ebrahimi celebrates what she describes as the fall of Iran’s Islamist government led by Ali Khamenei. Dancing alongside a man she identifies as her husband, she moves to “Y.M.C.A.” by the Village People, a song often associated with Donald Trump at campaign events. In the video, she declares it “the best day of my life” and calls Khamenei a dictator.
I am an Iranian and this is the best day of my life.🇮🇷

Ebrahimi has previously written about leaving Iran at age 23, saying she fled to escape what she describes as repression under the country’s Islamic government. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Sharif University of Technology in Tehran and later completed a master’s degree at Indiana State University. She is currently pursuing a PhD at University of Illinois Chicago.
In past social media posts, Ebrahimi has described her childhood in Iran as marked by strict religious rules and fear. She recounted being required to wear a hijab from a young age and shared allegations of harassment while walking to school. She has also publicly criticized Islamic law as practiced in Iran, arguing that it limits women’s autonomy in areas such as dress, travel, marriage, and legal rights.
Tell me about the “Islamophobia”.
Tell that to the 7-year-old me, who was forced to wear this (photo on the right) to school every day since she was 7 years old.

I was born and raised Muslim. As women, we’re considered half of men. Under Islamic law, we have to obey men if we don’t want to be lashed, beaten, or oppressed. Our fathers hold authority over our lives and, under Sharia, can end our lives if they see us as a threat to Islam or… pic.twitter.com/FpAO7Lncdu

Ebrahimi has described herself as a former Muslim and has written that leaving the faith can carry severe consequences under Iran’s interpretation of Sharia law.
She has also addressed her political views in the United States. In response to a critic online, Ebrahimi said she supported President Trump in the most recent election cycle, noting that while she may have held different views in 2020, she had become a vocal supporter in the years since.
The video continues to circulate widely on social media, sparking both praise and criticism from viewers across the political spectrum.
