Mother and Her Children Carjacked at Tennessee Burger King after Mom Went Back in for Missing Fries
A Tennessee mother and her children were the victims of a carjacking earlier this week outside a Burger King in Memphis.
Kristin Gillia said she stopped at the restaurant on Winchester Road Monday night with her three children. After realizing one of her kids was missing fries from their order, she went back inside to fix the mistake, leaving two of the children in the vehicle.
According to the Memphis Police Department, two suspects got into Gillia’s 2007 Ford Edge while the children were still inside. Police said the suspects forced the children out of the vehicle before driving away. As they fled, Gillia’s foot was allegedly run over.
Gillia suffered a broken ankle and is now wearing a medical boot during her recovery. The children were not injured. Authorities later located the vehicle parked nearby.
Police identified the suspects as 25-year-old Antonio Alexander and 31-year-old Alexis Kearney. Both were arrested and taken into custody. Kearney was charged with carjacking, while Alexander faces multiple charges, including theft of a firearm, auto theft, and aggravated assault.
In an interview with Fox 13 Memphis, Gillia urged parents to use caution.
“Don’t leave your kids in the car,” she said. “It’s not worth it. Don’t leave your keys in the car. I told my kids to lock the door, but it’s not their fault. It’s not their responsibility.”
