Cher’s son arrested at elite St Paul’s School in New Hampshire on multiple criminal charges, including assault
Cher’s son, Elijah Allman, was arrested Friday evening following an alleged disturbance at a private high school in New Hampshire, authorities said.
Allman, 49, faces four misdemeanor charges: two counts of simple assault, criminal trespass, and criminal threatening. He was also cited for disorderly conduct, which is considered a violation rather than a criminal offense under New Hampshire law.
According to The Associated Press, Concord police responded to reports of a belligerent individual inside the dining hall of an elite prep school around 7 p.m. Officers allege Allman was causing a disturbance at the time. He was later released on bail. His connection to the school has not been publicly disclosed.
The arrest follows a previous incident in June 2025, when authorities in California responded to reports of erratic behavior involving Allman. Deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office said they were called to a residence in Landers, located in San Bernardino County’s Morongo Basin area.
In a statement obtained by Fox News Digital, officials said deputies arrived to find Allman being evaluated by emergency medical personnel. Authorities reported discovering drugs inside the home. Allman was transported to a hospital for further evaluation, and the investigation remains ongoing.
In December 2023, Cher was granted temporary conservatorship over her son, citing concerns about his mental health and substance abuse. Court documents stated that Allman was “substantially unable to manage his financial resources” due to severe mental health and substance abuse issues.
The filing noted that while Allman was entitled to funds from a trust established by his late father, Gregg Allman, Cher argued that any distributed money would allegedly be spent on drugs, potentially leaving him without financial resources and putting his well-being at risk.

Allman opposed the conservatorship in January 2024, stating in court documents that he did not want his mother managing his finances. “I do not need her unsolicited help or support at this time,” he wrote. He also stated that he had refrained from using illicit substances that had contributed to prior incidents.
Later that month, Cher’s temporary conservatorship over Allman was terminated.
Cher and Gregg Allman married in June 1975 and welcomed Elijah in July 1976. During their marriage, the couple recorded the album “Two the Hard Way,” released in November 1977. Their relationship ended in 1979, with substance abuse issues and the pressures of fame cited as contributing factors.
In his book Brothers and Sisters: The Allman Brothers Band and the Inside Story of the Album That Defined the ’70s, author Alan Paul wrote that while drugs were a significant factor in the couple’s struggles, the intense spotlight of celebrity also played a role. He described the pair as being among the early high-profile celebrity couples heavily scrutinized by the media, comparing their fame at the time to that of modern celebrity power couples.
