A 23-year-old man in Texas has been arrested for allegedly hiding in his ex-girlfriend’s home and fatally shooting her new boyfriend when the couple returned.
Shiateek De-Shean Wilson was taken into custody over the weekend and charged with murder in the death of 35-year-old Noel Denzel Miller, according to court records.
Bexar County deputies responded early Sunday morning to a shooting at a home on the 7300 block of Roveen Trail in Converse, about 265 miles southwest of Dallas. First responders found Miller in an upstairs bedroom with multiple apparent gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene, the San Antonio Express-News reported.
The woman, who has not been named, told authorities that she and Miller had gone out that night and returned home around 2 a.m. She went to the bathroom for a shower while Miller went to the laundry room. Shortly after, she heard multiple gunshots and discovered Miller injured on the bed. In the doorway, she saw Wilson, her ex-boyfriend, holding a black handgun. Wilson allegedly made a comment about the woman “playing games with him” before running downstairs with her cellphone.
When the woman pleaded for her phone back to call 911, Wilson reportedly threw it upstairs and told her “not to tell on him” before fleeing. Authorities later located him at a friend’s house about a mile away on Chesnut Manor and took him into custody.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Wilson admitted to shooting Miller but claimed it was in self-defense, saying Miller had pointed a gun at him. Wilson said he had arrived at his ex-girlfriend’s house around 1 a.m. intending to “surprise” her with gifts, including flowers, money, and cocaine. Finding her not home, he hid in a closet until she returned with Miller. He claimed that when he tried to leave, Miller noticed him and brandished a gun, prompting Wilson to fire in self-defense.
Investigators recovered multiple spent shell casings and apparent bullet holes inside the home. Wilson reportedly discarded the gun while fleeing, jumping over several fences.
Wilson is being held in Bexar County Jail on a $300,000 bond. His next court appearance has not been scheduled.
