GO WOKE, GET ROASTED: Family-Owned American Business TORCHES Fake News HuffPost — Tells Them to “Go F*** Yourself”

Criticism of U.S. patriotism during the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 has sparked backlash online, culminating in a blunt response from a Maryland restaurant that went viral.

As fans celebrated a U.S. men’s hockey victory, the outlet HuffPost posted a message on social media suggesting that some viewers might feel discomfort at displays of American nationalism. The post read: “If waving the American flag or chanting ‘USA!’ turns you off right now, you’re not alone.”

The tweet linked to an opinion piece by staff writer Monica Torres titled “There’s A Name For The Discomfort You’re Feeling Watching The Olympics Right Now.” The article argued that some Americans experience “cognitive dissonance” when celebrating national achievements in sports while also being concerned about U.S. government policies. It referenced immigration enforcement and other federal actions under President Donald Trump as examples of issues that could contribute to that tension.

Olympic athletes in white jackets wave American flags during a ceremony, capturing a moment of national pride and celebration.

Torres also cited commentary from mental-health professionals and included remarks from U.S. freestyle skier Hunter Hess, who said that wearing national symbols does not necessarily signal support for government policy. The article encouraged readers to focus on humanitarian causes and community efforts rather than national medal counts.

The piece and the accompanying social-media post drew sharp criticism from some commentators and business owners, who viewed them as dismissive of patriotism. Among the most prominent responses came from Jimmy’s Famous Seafood, a long-running restaurant in Baltimore known for its active social-media presence.

Replying directly to the HuffPost tweet, the restaurant posted: “Go f* yourself.”

The response quickly spread across platforms, attracting millions of views and thousands of reactions, with supporters praising the business for pushing back against what they saw as anti-American sentiment in media commentary. Critics, meanwhile, argued that the exchange illustrated growing polarization over national identity and political discourse surrounding major international sporting events.
