Infant viciously mauled by family bulldog during diaper change in Florida home
A 1-year-old boy in South Florida was seriously injured after being attacked by his family’s dog while his mother was changing his diaper at home, authorities said.
The incident occurred Friday afternoon inside the family’s residence in Hallandale Beach, about 20 miles north of Miami. According to police, the family’s six-year-old American bulldog suddenly lunged at the infant during the diaper change.

The child’s mother had briefly looked away when she heard the dog growl and turned back to see it attacking her son. She rushed to pull the child from the dog’s grasp and was bitten herself in the process, the boy’s father told local television station WPLG.
The infant suffered significant injuries and was airlifted to a nearby children’s hospital. Television footage showed the distressed mother running alongside the stretcher as paramedics rushed the child into the facility.

The father told reporters he had never seen the dog show aggression before the attack. He later surrendered the animal to Broward County Animal Care and Control.
A neighbor said the dog had always appeared calm and expressed sympathy for the family, describing the father as devastated after the incident.
Officials said the child is expected to recover. The dog was euthanized Saturday. Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack.
