A 22-year-old Texas woman has been charged with murder in the death of her 21-year-old boyfriend, who authorities say was stabbed repeatedly with a screwdriver during a late-night argument in December 2025.
Jayla Brown is accused in the killing of Keylan Foreman, according to court records. The incident occurred the night of Dec. 27, 2025, in northeast Houston.
Police said officers were called around 11:55 p.m. to the intersection of Lockwood Drive and Laura Koppe Road after reports that a man had been stabbed. Responders found Foreman unconscious in the backseat of a vehicle, suffering from multiple wounds to his face and nose.
Paramedics transported him to a nearby hospital, where he died the following day from his injuries.
Investigators identified Brown as the owner of the vehicle and later interviewed her. Initially, Brown and several witnesses told police that an altercation had taken place in a nearby parking lot and that Foreman was later discovered lying on the ground bleeding.
Days later, however, Brown went to a Houston Police Department station and gave a written statement saying she had stabbed Foreman — whom she identified as her boyfriend — with a screwdriver after the two argued.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Brown told investigators the confrontation began while both were inside her car. She said she got out, walked to the driver’s side, opened the door and told Foreman — who was using crutches due to a prior injury — to get out.
Brown said they continued arguing beside the vehicle. She alleged that Foreman struck her in the face, and that she responded by hitting him with a screwdriver she was holding. She told police she then lost consciousness and next saw him seriously injured.
Surveillance video from a nearby business allegedly shows Brown rushing toward Foreman and striking his head as he stumbles and falls. Investigators said the footage does not show Foreman hitting Brown.
An autopsy by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office determined Foreman died from a skull fracture and traumatic brain injury. The medical examiner reported a penetrating injury path through the nasal cavity consistent with a screwdriver, matching Brown’s statement. The death was ruled a homicide.
Brown remains jailed without bond and is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
