Michigan woman faces jail after pleading guilty to throwing hot coffee at McDonald’s staff
A 49-year-old woman has admitted to assault after throwing a cup of “semi-warm” coffee at a fast-food employee during a dispute at a McDonald’s restaurant in Michigan.
Casharra Brown had visited the location on November 4, 2025, claiming she had waited more than an hour for food and coffee she ordered through the McDonald’s app, according to Fox News. Investigators later said she submitted the order without providing her name or payment details.
Surveillance and bystander video showed Brown arguing with a cashier, calling the worker a liar and demanding to speak with another employee. The disagreement centered on a transaction the staff member said had been canceled, with a refund expected within 48 hours.
As the employee turned away, Brown hurled the coffee onto the worker’s back, shouting profanities and storming out. She also yelled, “Catch that hot a– coffee,” according to reports.

Authorities later confirmed the employee was not injured because the drink was only “semi-warm,” as reported by MLive. The worker’s main concern was preventing Brown from returning to the restaurant.
The Buena Vista Police Department released the incident video, recorded by another customer, on the day of the altercation.
Brown, who lives in Georgia, was arraigned and released on bond with a condition barring her from any McDonald’s locations. She later pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of assault and battery, according to Daily Mail.
She is scheduled to return to Michigan for sentencing in March and faces up to 93 days in jail and a $500 fine.
