What on Earth? Anti-ICE Protesters Wave Large Dildos Outside Don Lemon’s Federal Arraignment While Chanting ‘Protect the Press!’

A group of protesters gathered outside the federal courthouse in St. Paul on Friday as CNN anchor Don Lemon was arraigned on federal civil rights charges.

The demonstrators waved large sex toys and chanted slogans in support of press freedom as Lemon entered his plea.

Observers described the scene on the courthouse steps as chaotic and unusual. Video footage shared by Disclose.tv captures the protest in real time.

The dildo-waving tactic appears to be part of a protest strategy called “Operation Dildo Blitz,” previously used against ICE operations in the Twin Cities. Just days earlier, the same method was seen outside the Bishop Henry Whipple Federal Building in Minneapolis, which houses ICE offices.

Independent journalist Ford Fischer of News2Share documented the protest, showing demonstrators throwing hundreds of sex toys at federal and local law enforcement vehicles. Some participants ran into the street to retrieve and throw the toys again, while others attempted to attach suction-cup toys to vehicles. Deputies responded by tossing the items back over the fence to prevent further disruption. Several protesters were arrested.

Lemon, currently working as an independent journalist, pleaded not guilty to charges related to his alleged involvement with anti-ICE activists who entered Cities Church in St. Paul in January. Prosecutors claim the group carried out a “takeover-style attack” that disrupted a worship service.

He and co-defendants face charges including conspiring to violate civil rights and interfering with religious freedom under the FACE Act.
