Woman says son-in-law was person detained for questioning in Nancy Guthrie’s kidnapping, Rio Rico house being searched
A woman living in the Rio Rico home currently being searched by authorities in connection with the kidnapping of Nancy Guthrie said her son-in-law was taken into custody during a traffic stop earlier in the day.
The woman, who appeared confused and was not identified by name, spoke with ABC15’s Lillian Donahue. In a clip posted on X, she said investigators “keep going in and out of my house, taking pictures, and I don’t know why.”

RIGHT NOW: a woman has walked up to me saying that her house is currently under investigation. She claims her son-in-law was detained by authorities.

She said officers showed her surveillance video from outside the missing 84-year-old’s home and asked whether she recognized the clothing worn by the person in the footage. “They showed me a video to see if it was him, to see … if I recognize the things he was wearing. He doesn’t have any of that. He doesn’t have anything that comes in the video,” she said.

When asked if the person in the footage resembled her son-in-law, she responded, “No, it doesn’t look like him. No, not at all.”
She also said her son-in-law has not been “in trouble” since he was a minor.
