President Joe Biden is planning a visit to Columbia, South Carolina later this month to mark the six-year anniversary of his crucial primary victory in the state, which played a pivotal role in his path to the White House.
The South Carolina Democratic Party will host a fundraising event on February 27, with tickets starting at $125 and options to contribute more. The reception falls just two days before the actual anniversary of the primary.

According to an email from state Democratic Party Chairwoman Christale Spain, the event is “about honoring President Biden while also doing the very practical work of preparing for what’s next.” Proceeds will go toward candidate recruitment, party infrastructure, and voter engagement programs.
SC Democratic Party Executive Director Jay Parmley told the South Carolina Daily Gazette that President Biden is scheduled to speak, and he expects the remarks to be more than brief. U.S. Rep. Jim Clyburn is also confirmed to attend.
I am so excited for the Dems to line up to talk about how he’s sharper than ever and runs laps around them. https://t.co/WkvlZiCr9c

The invitation notes that ticket buyers must be U.S. citizens or green card holders, at least 18 years old, and not federal contractors. Parmley explained that federal law prevents foreign nationals from contributing to political events connected to federal, state, or local elections.
