Unhinged California teacher fired after saying Israelis ‘steal livers and kidneys and eyeballs’ in bizarre video

A San Diego special education teacher is no longer employed by the San Diego Unified School District after posting a video on Feb. 3 in which she made inflammatory accusations about Israel, following complaints from members of the local Jewish community.

Nasreen Atassi’s departure was confirmed by the district to The California Post after reports circulated that she had been dismissed. In the video, Atassi criticized Israel and alleged that it “steals from people,” including claims that it takes “livers and kidneys and eyeballs.”

The video was shared online by StopAntisemitism, a U.S.-based advocacy group, which called for her removal. The group said her remarks echoed antisemitic tropes that have historically been used to target Jewish people.

After the clip was reposted on X, it drew widespread attention and prompted complaints to school district officials. Atassi was reportedly removed from her position less than a day after the video gained traction.

“There’s no chance we would allow such a person to enter classrooms,” a member of San Diego’s Israeli community told N12, an Israeli television station that first reported the incident.

The situation comes amid heightened attention to reports of antisemitic rhetoric and incidents in schools across California following the Oct. 7 Hamas attack on Israel and the subsequent war in Gaza. Jewish advocacy groups have documented what they describe as an increase in antisemitic speech, vandalism, and harassment on campuses statewide.

Dr. Halevi Feldman, a board member representing House of Israel–Balboa Park, told N12 that the community has an organized process for documenting antisemitic incidents and forwarding them to relevant authorities.

“Our community has someone responsible for collecting these cases,” Feldman said. “They document them and pass them on to the appropriate bodies.”

Feldman said coordinated outreach efforts, including online advocacy, tagging officials, and filing formal complaints, contributed to the district’s decision to end Atassi’s employment.

“She was removed from the education system in less than a day,” Feldman said, adding that additional steps were taken behind the scenes.

While Feldman said such incidents are no longer surprising, he emphasized the importance of responding to them.

“We’re no longer shocked when we see things like this,” he said. “But we absolutely do not intend to give up or remain silent — and certainly not to allow such a person to be part of San Diego’s education system.”
