SoCal coffee shop hid strip club inside, with dancers offering X-rated services

A coffee shop in Southern California has been shut down after authorities say it was secretly operating as an illegal adult entertainment venue.

According to a FOX 11 investigation, DD Café in Garden Grove was allegedly functioning as an unlicensed strip club. Reporters found that women were performing provocative dances for customers inside the dimly lit shop, which featured red leather booths. Investigators also reported that customers could pay extra for private sessions behind closed doors.

Patrons were reportedly allowed to bring their own alcohol for an additional fee. “It’s not even a coffee shop, it’s a strip club,” Mytchell Mora, a former Garden Grove resident, told FOX 11. He noted that the business is located near a school and appears to violate local regulations governing adult entertainment establishments. “Everyone knows about it, and no one was doing anything about it,” he said.

Garden Grove police raided the business on Thursday after receiving complaints about illegal activity. The shop, which was licensed as a coffee house, was searched as part of an operation involving investigators, gang suppression officers, and patrol officers.

“Today, SIU Investigators, Gang Suppression Officers, along with patrol officers, served a search warrant at the location,” the department said in an Instagram post. “As a result, 17 arrests were made and the business was red-tagged with assistance of Garden Grove Code Enforcement.”

The enforcement action came after FOX 11 shared undercover footage with police. The station reported that officers did not respond to multiple requests for comment before the raid.

Authorities said the business was closed due to code violations. Most of the arrests were related to violations of local nudity ordinances, which are classified as misdemeanors. Those arrested were cited and released. The owners also received citations for alcohol-related violations and for allowing other infractions to occur on the premises.

Residents told FOX 11 that similar businesses operate in the area and are widely known within the community. One local said the café even promoted itself on social media before deleting its Instagram page. The business reportedly charged as much as $20 for a cup of coffee.

“This is not the first one or the last one,” a resident said. “If you go down this street, you can probably find many of them. The city should crack down on all of them.”
