Trump calls for ‘Scammer’ Rep. Omar to be jailed or deported back to Somalia
President Trump launched a sharp attack on Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) on Truth Social Saturday, calling for the Somali-born congresswoman to be jailed or deported and linking her to Minnesota’s ongoing human services fraud investigation.
“The theft and fraud in Minnesota is far greater than the $19 billion originally projected,” Trump wrote. “The Biden Administration knew this FRAUD was happening and did absolutely nothing about it. ‘Scammer’ Ilhan Omar and her terrible friends from Somalia should all be in jail, or, far worse, sent back to Somalia.”
The controversy centers on a massive COVID-era fraud scheme tied to the Feeding Our Future program, which began in 2021 and involved at least $250 million. More than 75 individuals, many of Somali descent, are now facing charges. Omar has not been implicated in the fraud.

Trump also criticized Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, calling him “either the most CORRUPT government official in history, or the most INCOMPETENT,” and added that even “a very low IQ person” should have recognized the fraud.
The president’s comments come days after a constituent sprayed Omar with a syringe containing apple cider vinegar during a call for the impeachment of DHS Secretary Kristi Noem. Anthony Kazmierczak, 55, was charged with third-degree assault. Trump suggested the incident may have been staged, telling ABC News, “She probably had herself sprayed, knowing her.”
Omar, responding on X, said she was unharmed and vowed to continue her work: “I’m ok. I’m a survivor, so this small agitator isn’t going to intimidate me.”
Earlier this week, it was also reported that the DOJ and Congress are investigating Omar’s rising net worth. President Trump has repeatedly called for her to face jail or deportation, saying she “hates” the U.S. and adding, “She could help to MAKE SOMALIA GREAT AGAIN!”
