Nick Reiner ‘almost childlike in jail’
A new “TMZ Investigates” special on Fox Nation claims that Nick Reiner is currently unable to stand trial for the alleged murders of his parents, Rob and Michele Reiner. The program offers new insights into his mental state, changes in his medication, and the case against him.
“He is not competent to stand trial right now. He’s almost childlike in jail, we’re told,” TMZ executive producer Harvey Levin told Fox & Friends on Monday.
“He knows what he did, but he can’t process the consequences or understand where he is right now. I know that sounds crazy, but he is out of his head at the moment,” Levin added.
Levin said doctors had changed Nick’s medication a month before the murders due to his complaints of weight gain, which “messed Nick up.” Nick has been diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder, a condition that can cause delusions, hallucinations, and mood disturbances.

Describing the alleged killings as “incredibly brutal,” Levin said, “We know people in the medical examiner’s office who are traumatized just by the pictures.” He suggested the crime showed signs consistent with methamphetamine use and said Nick was reportedly using meth after his medication changes. Levin added that Nick was arrested in what authorities called a drug den.
“It has the markings of somebody who was wild, extremely strong. If he were just Nick Reiner without additional factors, the carnage wouldn’t have been this way,” Levin said.
Levin also discussed the legal strategy, noting that Nick’s former attorney, Alan Jackson, maintains that he is not guilty.

“[Jackson] says Nick is not guilty. What he’s really saying is, not guilty by reason of insanity. That’s likely going to be the plea in this case, because there’s no way he’ll plead not guilty,” Levin said.
