A Florida nurse convicted of sexually assaulting her teenage stepson has had her state medical license permanently revoked, weeks after her husband filed for divorce.
Alexis Von Yates, 35, of Ocala, is currently serving a two-year prison sentence following her conviction for lewd and lascivious battery involving her then 15-year-old stepson. The Florida Department of Health revoked her nursing license after she did not contest the allegations during a recent hearing before the state Board of Nursing, according to Ocala News.
Von Yates had her license temporarily suspended in April 2025. A final order issued after an October meeting with the Board of Nursing confirmed the permanent revocation. State records show that her husband, Frank Yates, filed for divorce last month.
The criminal case stems from an incident on July 26, 2024, when the teen was visiting his father’s home for the summer. According to an arrest affidavit from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Von Yates remained in the living room with the boy late at night after putting her younger children to bed. At some point, the situation escalated into sexual activity.
The incident was discovered shortly after 1 a.m. when the boy’s father returned home from work and found both individuals unclothed on the couch. The teen fled the residence and later stayed with relatives. A family member subsequently reported the incident to law enforcement.
Von Yates was arrested in November 2024 and initially charged with sexual battery on a minor between the ages of 12 and 18. She entered a plea agreement in August 2025, pleading no contest to a reduced charge of lewd and lascivious battery.
Prosecutors stated that the plea agreement balanced accountability with concern for the victim’s mental and emotional well-being. Under the terms of the deal, Von Yates was sentenced to two years in the Florida Department of Corrections, followed by two years of community control. She is also required to register as a sex offender for 10 years, complete 200 hours of community service, and pay fines and court costs.
Von Yates was formally sentenced in September 2025 and remains incarcerated.
