A 55-year-old woman was arrested in Florida this week following an incident at a massage parlor in Fort Walton Beach, according to court records.
Fang Wang was taken into custody Tuesday and charged with battery on a public health department employee and resisting a law enforcement officer without violence. She also faces an additional charge for allowing an unlicensed individual to practice massage.
According to a probable cause affidavit, two investigators with the Florida Department of Health visited Wang’s business, The Palms of Emerald Coast, located in the 100 block of Beal Parkway SE, to conduct a routine inspection. After identifying themselves and explaining the purpose of their visit, investigators said Wang became uncooperative and argumentative.
The affidavit states that as the inspection began, Wang allegedly placed her hands on the shoulders of one of the investigators and pushed her while the investigator was performing her official duties. A second health department employee witnessed the incident and contacted law enforcement.
In a written statement to police, the witness said Wang attempted to forcibly move the investigator out of a room near the reception area, which was partially concealed by a sheer curtain. The investigator reported that Wang followed her into the room, grabbed her from behind, and pushed her forward while loudly demanding she move. The investigator then contacted the Fort Walton Beach Police Department.
When officers arrived, Wang allegedly continued to argue with both investigators and police. Authorities say she then attempted to flee the scene.
Police wrote that during the attempt to evade detention, Wang pulled away from officers and defecated in a trash can inside the business.
Wang was booked into the Okaloosa County Department of Corrections, where she is being held without bond. Court records do not indicate when her next court appearance is scheduled.
