Keeping My Crown, Not the Cleaning Gloves

Dear Abby,

I am newly married and absolutely adore my husband. He is kind, thoughtful, and treats me like a queen. He brings me flowers just because, rubs my shoulders after a long day, and always makes sure I’m comfortable and happy. I truly feel lucky to have found someone so wonderful.

But here’s the problem: he expects me to cook and clean the house. Abby, I feel that is far too much to ask. I was raised to be pampered. I was my parents’ little princess, and I’ve always lived a life free from housework. I don’t want chipped nails, dishpan hands, or to smell like cooking grease. I love being the person he fell in love with, and if he wanted a maid or a chef, that’s what he should have married.

How do I help him realize that I should be allowed to remain the spoiled, adored princess that I have always been?

Sincerely,

Princess Pampered, New York
