A GoFundMe for Renee Nicole Good’s family closed Friday after raising over $1.5 million following a deadly confrontation in Minnesota, in which an ICE agent shot and killed the activist mother.
The fundraiser, which collected $1,503,533 from roughly 38,000 donations, was created Wednesday to support Good’s wife, Rebecca, and their three children. Good, 37, was shot after driving her SUV toward an ICE officer during a tense protest in Minneapolis.
“First, I want to extend my gratitude to everyone who has reached out from across the country and around the world to support our family,” Rebecca said in a statement on GoFundMe. “This kindness of strangers is the most fitting tribute because if you ever met my wife, Renee Nicole Macklin Good, you’d know she was above all else kind. Kindness radiated from her.”
Rebecca added, “We were raising our son to believe that no matter where you come from or what you look like, everyone deserves compassion and kindness. Renee lived this belief every day. She was pure love. She was pure joy. She was pure sunshine.”

The couple drew national attention this week after ICE agent Jonathan Ross shot Good. Federal officials said she “weaponized” her plum-colored Honda Pilot.
Local authorities have criticized the use of lethal force, calling the shooting a “murder.” Video from Ross’ cellphone shows Rebecca outside the vehicle urging Good to drive while Good stayed behind the wheel. As another agent ordered Good to exit the car, Rebecca can be heard saying, “Drive, baby, drive,” before Good’s vehicle struck Ross, prompting the officer to open fire. A video taken after the shooting shows Rebecca crying, saying, “It’s my fault.”
“On Wednesday, January 7th, we stopped to support our neighbors,” Rebecca wrote on the fundraiser page. “We had whistles. They had guns.”
The family had recently moved to Minnesota, where they were raising Good’s 6-year-old son from a previous marriage. Activists in the area described Good as an anti-ICE advocate who helped document and resist federal immigration enforcement.
President Trump and Homeland Security officials have described Good as a “domestic terrorist.”
