REPORT: Democrats Are Going to Push Another Government Shutdown to Try to Defund ICE
Senate Republicans defy the Schumer shutdown – Screencap of Twitter/X video.
The last government shutdown was the longest in U.S. history and ended only a few months ago. Now, the country is once again facing the possibility of another shutdown as the end-of-month funding deadline approaches.
Rather than working to prevent more disruption for the American people, Democrats are already signaling that they intend to use the situation to advance their own political agenda—regardless of the consequences.
There is growing speculation that Democrats will attempt to use a potential shutdown to defund Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Unhinged Democrat Rep. Pramila Jayapal smears ICE agents — who are facing a 1,300% increase in assaults — with lies and threatens to defund them.

According to Breitbart News, progressive Democrats are openly discussing leveraging the late-January government funding deadline to impose new restrictions on ICE, escalating internal party tensions following a deadly incident in Minneapolis in which a woman was killed after striking an ICE agent with her vehicle.
In the aftermath, an increasing number of Democrats are calling for limits on ICE operations and are considering withholding support for funding the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) as the January 31 deadline draws closer.
While Democrat leadership in the House and Senate has tried to shift attention toward healthcare priorities, such as extending Affordable Care Act tax credits, a vocal progressive faction is tying DHS funding directly to immigration enforcement changes. Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) wrote on X that “Democrats cannot vote for a DHS budget that doesn’t restrain the growing lawlessness of this agency.” Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) went even further, stating, “We can’t just keep authorizing money for these illegal killers. That’s what they are, this rogue force.”
Rep. Delia Ramirez (D-IL) echoed that sentiment, pointing to the continuing resolution set to expire on January 31 as leverage: “Statements and letters are not enough, and the appropriations process and the CR expiring Jan. 31 is our opportunity.” Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) told Axios that the ICE agent involved should be arrested and criticized what he described as “hundreds of billions of dollars going to a lawless agency.”
None of this should come as a surprise. Democrats have consistently opposed enforcing immigration laws, and their political influence increasingly depends on illegal immigration and election-related fraud.
