A Louisiana woman’s attempt at a skinny-dip took a wild turn Tuesday after she allegedly attacked a sheriff’s deputy responding to a trespassing call before eventually surrendering to authorities.

According to the Union Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called in November to a home in the Linville community of Marion after a neighbor reported someone standing in their driveway, yelling, and refusing to leave despite prior warnings.

When a patrol deputy arrived, the suspect, later identified as 41-year-old Erin Elizabeth Sutton of Marion, was found nude and swimming in a pond on the caller’s property. Sutton initially refused to exit the pond or speak with the deputy, telling him she was “trying to be a mermaid,” the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post.

After repeated commands, Sutton finally left the pond. Because of the cold, emergency medical services were called to check her. While a blanket was being provided and deputies attempted to escort her inside to warm up, Sutton allegedly charged at one of the deputies.

Authorities said she ignored repeated commands, resisted detention, and remained combative. A taser was deployed but reportedly had no effect. Deputies took her to the ground, where she allegedly continued kicking and punching before being restrained. Sutton was transported to a hospital for treatment, and during the trip, she allegedly threatened deputies and paramedics.

Because she needed medical care at the time, deputies later obtained arrest warrants, which were signed by a judge in Louisiana’s Third Judicial District Court.

Sutton surrendered to authorities on Jan. 6, 2025, and was arrested on multiple charges, including three counts of resisting an officer with force or violence, two counts of public intimidation, two counts of battery of a police officer, disturbing the peace/drunkenness, and criminal trespassing. Her bond was set at $62,000.

Fox News Digital contacted the Union Parish Sheriff’s Office for comment but did not immediately receive a response. It is unclear if Sutton has legal representation.
