Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, sharply criticized the Supreme Court following its decision to temporarily allow Texas’ newly drawn congressional districts to remain in place.

In a video posted Sunday to her YouTube channel, Crockett accused President Donald Trump and Republicans of attempting to influence the 2026 midterm elections through redistricting efforts at the state level.

“Trump is still doing his bidding with these state Houses and state Senates and governor’s mansions to try to rig the system,” Crockett said. She praised officials in Indiana and California who have pushed back against similar efforts, using profane language to underscore her remarks.

Crockett also took aim at the Supreme Court, directing profanity at the justices for their decision while simultaneously praising a Trump-appointed justice who authored a lengthy dissent criticizing Texas’ redistricting process.

In December, the Supreme Court issued an order allowing the congressional maps signed by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to remain in effect ahead of the November elections. The revised districts are projected to create up to five additional Republican-held seats in the U.S. House.

The new maps also move Crockett out of her current congressional district, a development that may have contributed to her decision to announce a U.S. Senate campaign shortly after the Court’s ruling.

Elsewhere, California Gov. Gavin Newsom responded to Texas’ redistricting by backing a November ballot initiative aimed at creating five additional Democratic-leaning congressional districts. In Indiana, the Republican-controlled state Senate declined to advance a proposal that would have added two GOP-leaning seats.

During her video, Crockett also renewed calls for Supreme Court reform, citing her work on the Court Reform Now Task Force in 2024. She highlighted proposals such as term limits for justices and expanding the size of the Court.

“I feel like there are certain spots on the Supreme Court that were illegitimately gotten,” Crockett said. “If we’re going to strengthen our democracy, we have to start by reinforcing checks and balances, and that starts with the Supreme Court.”
