GOING VIRAL: Parachutist Hits Field Goal Net Before Falling into Crowd at Armed Forces Bowl (VIDEO)
During pregame ceremonies at the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl in Fort Worth, Texas, a parachutist crash-landed into the stands after becoming tangled in a field goal net.
The incident occurred Friday as Texas State faced Rice at Amon G. Carter Stadium. Pregame festivities included a fighter jet flyover and several parachutists descending into the stadium. One of the parachutists, however, ran into trouble while coming down and snagged the netting behind the end zone before falling into the seating area.
Video from the scene quickly spread online, showing the parachutist striking the net and dropping to the ground below. According to officials, the individual was not seriously injured.
WFAA reported that bowl officials confirmed the parachutist was able to walk off under his own power. The video was shared by San Antonio Express-News reporter Keff Ciardello and showed one of the five parachutists involved in the pregame display experiencing the rough landing.
The Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl, now in its 23rd year, is held annually in Fort Worth and is known for its military-themed pregame events.
