WILD VIDEO: Speeding Car Crashes Through Backyard Wall, Flips Over, Ejects Driver Into Pool
Home surveillance footage captured a dramatic crash in Southern Nevada when a speeding car smashed through a backyard wall, flipped into the air, and sent the female driver flying into a swimming pool.
The incident happened on the night of December 15 after the driver failed to stop and slammed into a block wall, causing the vehicle to go airborne. The car struck a pool house roof before the driver was ejected and landed in the shallow end of the pool. Remarkably, she survived.
Police believe the driver may have been impaired at the time of the crash, though it remains unclear whether any charges have been filed.
Homeowner Cletis Reed said he was inside his house when he heard a loud crash that he compared to a freight train. When he went outside, he found his backyard completely destroyed and the driver floating in his pool.
“I figured something happened in the street,” Reed said. “I come out and my entire backyard is destroyed. The patio is gone, and there’s a woman floating in my pool.”
Reed said he narrowly avoided serious injury or death. Moments before the crash, he had been preparing to get into his hot tub, which was located next to the wall that was destroyed.
“By the grace of God, I stopped to tell my wife something,” Reed said. “If I hadn’t, I would have been right there. It would have killed me.”
Surveillance video shows the driver moaning after landing in the pool. Reed said she was conscious when he pulled her out of the water and appeared disoriented but responsive.
“She was floating face up, then face down, slipping under the water,” Reed said. “She was moaning and groaning, but she was conscious. About 15 minutes later, she was standing and talking to police.”
Reed estimates the crash caused approximately $300,000 in damage to his backyard.
