Addyson James, 46, a former US Navy veteran who served in Afghanistan, has revealed that she went broke after transitioning into the adult industry, cautioning that OnlyFans and similar platforms aren’t the financial goldmine many assume.
James, who left the military in 2003, told the Sun that making a living in the industry is far from guaranteed.
“There are 1% of people on OnlyFans who shoot porn that actually make a lot of money, and the common misconception is, if they see us on camera they think, ‘Oh, I thought they made $10,000 a scene,’” she explained. “Most people don’t even make $10,000 a year shooting porn.”
She also disclosed that she has been homeless for the past four months due to insufficient income from her adult career.

A Vermont native, James joined the Navy in 1998 and served as an aircraft logistics specialist for her last three years, spending much of her service at the US-UK military base on Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean. After leaving the military, she worked as an esthetician and was involved in swinging.
“I became a swinger 15 years ago, so I was pretty open sexually. Then three years ago, I was approached by a company about doing porn,” she said. “I hesitated because I wasn’t sure if I was ready to be on the internet and what that might do to my career as an esthetician.”
Although she initially earned up to $1,200 per scene, work soon became inconsistent.
“During the spring, things were busy — I was shooting five to seven scenes a month,” she said. “Then summer hit, and I went from five to seven scenes a month to zero scenes for over two months. During that time, I stayed with some friends.”

Currently, James is living at Sheri’s Ranch, a legal brothel outside Las Vegas, while seeking more permanent housing.
“I heard about Sheri’s, did some research, and decided it would be the best thing for supplemental income and to have a place to stay,” she said.
Reflecting on her military service, James recalled the critical role she played in Afghanistan operations.
“The stealth bombers were flying in. We were putting bombs on them and launching those planes, which were dropping bombs on Afghanistan,” she said. “It was incredibly important for the missions we were completing.”
