Vengeful mom on a Carnival Cruise attacked teen she mistook for bully who hit her sons

A Minnesota woman allegedly attacked a teenager on a Carnival cruise after mistakenly thinking he was involved in an incident with her sons, according to police.

Paetra Ann Grandsberry, 38, reportedly told a security guard she was “extremely upset” over her children being “attacked by several kids on the cruise ship” Sunday night. While speaking with security, she saw a group of teens running and assumed they were the ones who had hit her sons.

Authorities say Grandsberry “ran away from security and jumped on top of the victim” without hesitation. She tackled the teen from behind, knocking him to the deck, then pulled him up by the collar. Security intervened, separating her from the teen, who had been walking down a hallway and started running with other teens, believing they might be in danger.

After her arrest, Grandsberry admitted she had “mistaken” the teen for one of the youths who had allegedly attacked her sons. She told police that “in the heat of the moment,” she “ran up on the victim and accidentally fell on top of [him] and called him ‘little motherf—er,’” according to the arrest affidavit.

The teen was not injured and did not require medical attention. The incident took place in international waters near the Bahamas. Grandsberry was arrested and charged with child abuse after the Carnival Conquest docked in Port Miami on Monday.

She is being held at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami on $2,500 bond, according to jail records.
