Dead body washes ashore on NYC beach Christmas morning
Authorities are investigating after a body was found along Brooklyn’s Brighton Beach on Christmas morning.
Police said a man believed to be in his 50s was discovered around 11:20 a.m. near Brighton 15th Street and Boardwalk East. The body was located close to the shoreline and was later covered as officers secured the scene.
The discovery follows a separate incident earlier this month in which human remains were found in the Bronx’s Van Cortlandt Park. In that case, a group searching for artifacts came across the remains in a wooded area near the southbound lanes of the Major Deegan Expressway.
The city’s Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is working to determine the causes of death in both cases. Investigations remain ongoing.
